Bicycle Rider Killed in Collision

An unidentified 52-year-old Moorpark man died as the result of a collision between his bicycle and a vehicle at about 9:55 a.m. Thursday morning, according to the Moorpark Police Department.

Both the driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old man from Sylmar, and the bicycle rider were heading south on Moorpark Avenue, through the intersection of Poindexter Avenue, where the accident took place, the police department said. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

The bicyclist was transported to Los Robles Medical Center's emergency room, where he was pronounced dead, according to a police statement, which went on to say the rider's identity is not being released until his next of kin can be notified.
