Teaching Zoo to Host Annual Spring Event

The 22nd annual Spring Spectacular begins Saturday.

It's spring in Moorpark and that means citrus blossoms, flowers in bloom and perhaps even more baby bunnies. It also means the annual Spring Spectacular at Moorpark College's teaching zoo is coming.

The three-weekend event, which begins Saturday, features themed animal shows on three stagest at the five-acre zoo. The shows will star the zoo's animals plus some invited Hollywood animal actors.

The event will also have a dedicated kid zone with face painting, games, vendors and more.

The Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College has been around since 1974 and this will be the 22nd annual Spring Spectacular. The teaching zoo has about 200 animals, for which students are responsible. For more information about the program, call 805-378-1441 or visit its website.

Spring Spectacular, which raises money for the training program, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday and Sunday, March 31 and April 1, 7 and 8 at 7075 Campus Road. Tickets are $5 for children and seniors and $10 for everyone else.
