Week in Review: Man Killed in Detective-Involved Shooting; Driver Pulled From Burning Car

In case you missed anything, here's our roundup of the week's events in Moorpark.

On Sunday we reported that the Sheriff's Department arrested three men suspected of stealing copper wire from the Moorpark Southern California Edison plant.

On Monday, an overturned garbage truck caused a closure of Highway 118; luckily, nobody was hurt.

On Tuesday, we reported on a bill that Moorpark's state senator, Tony Strickland, introduced. The bill, SB 953 is aimed at trimming California's bureaucracy.

On Wednesday, we published a response to President Obama's State of the Union Address by Moorpark's Congressional representative, Elton Gallegly. In addition to the comments on Patch, we also had a discussion going on the Moorpark Patch Facebook page (Don't forget to like us on Facebook, if you haven't already).

On Thursday we reported on a driver who police say caused a collision on Highway 118, was pulled from a burning car and then later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. We also shared a Chatsworth Patch story about a deadly horse virus that's reared its head in Southern California again.

On Friday a man was killed in a detective-involved shooting in the Hitch Blvd. area of greater Moorpark. The investigation is still under way.

On Saturday, we published a goodbye note of sorts by Rep. Gallegly, who announced his retirement earlier this month.

Hi Billy, glad you read the posts. And thank you for catching my typo! It should have said "trimming." I'll make the correction.
