There's plenty to do in town this weekend. The High Street Arts Center's production of Hairspray continues. The library's 4 Paws Book Club meets Saturday, and Pam Rossi's Dance Ten is offering kids the opportunity to meet some real television actors and ask them about their profession.
But if you feel like getting out of town over the weekend, there's plenty going on nearby. Here are Patch's picks for this weekend (though, yes, we did fudge and include a Monday event ... but the birthday party only happens once a year).
SATURDAY
Cheaper by the Dozen: 8 p.m., Conejo Players Theater, , Thousand Oaks. See what happens when a pioneer of industrial efficiency decides to apply his methods to his extremely large family. $16-$18. 805-495-3715.
Folk Music and Social Justice Program: 8 p.m., Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, 3327 Old Conejo Road, Newbury Park. This program will feature music identified with struggles for social justice, peace and freedom. Singer-songwriter Merlin Snider and Pretty Good Acquaintances will perform songs by Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan and more. $18.
Peter and the Wolf: 3 p.m., Museum of Ventura County, 100 E. Main St., Ventura. The Pushcart Players present the traditional Russian folk tale set to music and geared to young audiences. $15 adults; $10 children. Tickets include admission to the museum, which currently features an exhibit by children’s book illustrator Simms Taback. 805-653-0323.

Ring of Fire: 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday, Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. The Cabrillo Music Theatre presents the story of Johnny Cash’s life as told through his music. $34-$69. 800-745-3000.
MONDAY
Ronald Reagan 101st birthday celebration: 11 a.m., Reagan Library and Museum, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. A ceremony to honor what would have been President Reagan’s 101st birthday will include a fly over, color guard, brass quintet, 21-gun salute and an address by Gov. Haley Barbour. Cake will be served following the ceremony. The ceremony is free and open to the public; regular admission ($15 general admission, $12 for seniors 62 and older and $9 for children) applies to visit museum exhibits. 805-522-2977.
