Weekend Planner: July 8-10

Here's a list of events taking place in and near Moorpark this weekend.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, Patch just may be able to help. We've picked some events and activities near and a little further away—some for kids and some more adult-oriented—that sounded fun to us and listed them below.

Moorpark Farmers Market: The market takes place from 3 to 8 p.m. weekly on Friday. It's always a best bet for fresh fruits and veggies and right now, all the summer fruit is sugary-sweet. It takes place at Miller Parkway and Los Angeles Avenue in the parking lot in front of Staples.

: Of course, you can also get fresh fruits and veggies is right on the farm. Located at 3370 Sunset Valley Road in Moorpark, the farm has animals to see and produce you can pick yourself. It's open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and admission is $3 per person weekdays and $5 per person on Saturdays and Sundays.

Mountains Restoration Trust activities: The California public benefit non-profit corporation will host two events in Calabasas this weekend. There will be a La Sierra restoration event beginning with participants meeting at Peter Strauss Ranch at 8:45 a.m. Saturday. From there, volunteers will caravan to La Sierra Preserve to plant, week or water newly planted or environmentally sensitive areas at this scenic site that's not open to the public. There will also be a youth naturalist program where kids will discover the difference between reptiles and amphibians with the help of a guest speaker who will bring both as well as a craft and a hike. The program is geared to ages 8-12 and takes place from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
