Wonderful Wednesdays: First Day of School, Be a Child Advocate

Here's a handful of things to keep in mind for the week.

• Today is the first day of school for all Moorpark Unified School District students.
• Want to do something meaningful with your time? Court Appointed Special Advocates (C.A.S.A.) is a nation-wide non-profit organization that trains volunteers to advocate for children and youth in the foster care system. If you would like to attend an informational presentation, contact Bernadette at 805.389.3120 or via email bernadette@casaofventuracounty.org.
• The Arroyo Vista Recreation Center has limited office hours this week due to staff training. The center will be open from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
• The city's photo contest continues through Oct. 1. In celebration of our 30th anniversary, the city is accepting entries to a photo contest. Winners' photos will be featured on a new city website. Find contest details on the Moorpark website contest page.
