Carmageddon's Sequel, 'Jamzilla,' Scheduled for Prez Day Weekend

Will it be 80 hours of traffic nightmares or 80 hours of peace? You decide.

You survived Carmaggedon, but will you make it through “Jamzilla.”

Travelers and others driving out of Los Angeles International Airport over Presidents Day weekend are being warned to plan ahead for “Jamzilla,” a traffic jam of monster-like proportions expected to be unleashed along the northbound I-405 San Diego Freeway, airport officials said today.

An 80-hour partial closure of the freeway for construction is expected to delay commutes from 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 through 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

The expected delays could affect travelers, motorists and airport employees leaving LAX and heading to the San Fernando Valley, northern Los Angeles County and Santa Barbara and Ventura counties, particularly during peak traffic periods, officials said.

Those catching flights out of LAX are not expected to meet congestion heading into the airport, officials said.
