Rotary Plans Annual Benefit Run

Funds raised will support polio eradication.

The Moorpark Rotary Club will host its annual Run So Others Can Walk 5K and 10K soon.

Now in its third year, the Dec. 1 event supports Rotary International's efforts in eradicating polio world wide.

The offroad 5K and 10K courses, which were designed by race director Matt Miguelena and the property owner, have been sanctioned by the USA Track and Field Association. The courses use the natural topography, landscape and elevation changes of the Happy Camp county park and Cutler Ranch site.

Organizers will be using electronic timing chips and there will be medals for all finishers as well as age group medals for first through third place for males and females.

As well, the event will include a one-mile family fun walk for people of all ages.

New for the 2012 run, per the event's website, are raffle prizes and goodie bags with dry-fit athletic shirts for all participants, vouchers for free yoga classes and small gifts from local businesses.

The race will take place, rain or shine, at 8 a.m. Dec. 1 at Cutler's Oak Ranch, 8450 Happy Camp Road.

Participants can register ahead of time online on the Moorpark Polio Run website or at 6:30 a.m. the day of the race. Online registration is $35 for the 5K and 10K runs and $25 per family or group for the fun walk.

This is a great place for any child to learn about self confidence. My son was in the Lil DragonRead More program and he learned about dealing with strangers and bullies, while at the same time having lot's of fun. Mr. Anderson is an excellent instructor. He has become a person my son will always admire and remember forever. Unlike many other places, the whole place has a great warm, family atmosphere. Mr. Anderson is not about making money, he is about helping children. My son is now in the Jr. program and we will encourage him to go has long as he wants. It is a great place for any child to make new friends too!
