Moorpark College Theater Department Schedules Auditions

Auditions for "Prelude to a Kiss" will take place Aug. 20.

The Moorpark College Theater Department will stage Craig Luca' Prelude to a Kiss this fall and is holding auditions next week.

The Tony Award-nominated play, set in the 1980s, is about two young lovers who meet and get married, but their wedding day is interrupted by a kiss from an elderly man that sends them both on a strange journey.  It's a dark fairy-tale, commenting on universal themes, like the limits of love and the meaning of commitment. In addition to the young lovers and the elderly man, the casting call is for adults of all ages, including a few special talents; a singer/piano-player and a steel drum player.

The production will be directed by Los Angeles Casting Director and Moorpark College faculty member, Eileen Kennedy.

Auditions will take place on the main stage at Moorpark College Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, Aug. 20 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. with callbacks on Wednesday, Aug. 21 from 6 to 9 p.m.

A Prelude to a Kiss will run Oct. 17-26 with performances on Thursdays through Saturdays 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. on the Moorpark College main stage.

Tickets may be purchased through the Moorpark College Performing Arts Center Box Office at 805-378-1485 or online at www.moorparkcollege.edu/pac.
