Watch as the turns into a blues club this Sunday!
The Ventura County Blues Society (VCBS) just unveiled its "Sunday Matinee Concert Series" in July featuring some of the most popular names in the American Blues scene.
This Sunday, veteran blues guitar great Jimmy Thackery will take center stage. California-based guitar aces Mikey Mo and Alastair Greene will also be joining him.
"We had a standing-room only event in July," said Michael John, president of VCBS. "We think the August concert will be equally as popular and as high-energy."
John is also executive producer of the yearly Simi Valley Blues Festival. Next year, the hugely successful, seven-year-old Simi Blues Fest will be calling its new home.
"It was a matter of logistics, savings and convenience," said John, adding that the college has 3,400 parking spots.
"So next year, there will be two blues events in Moorpark - the Sunday matinee concert series and the blues fest at ," he said. "That's a lot of 'blues' for Moorpark and Simi residents in 2013."
Before then, residents have this Sunday to look forward to. The event will also benefit the Moorpark Foundation for the Arts.
Cigars, barbecue, snacks, beer, wine, cocktails and other beverages will be available at the show.
The show starts at 1 p.m. but doors will open at 12 p.m. Tickets are $20 for VCBS members and $25 for the general public. Tickets may be purchased online.
And if you miss this one, stay tuned for another dose of the Sunday blues in September.
