Sheriff's Department Makes Bomb Threat Arrest

Ventura County Sheriff's detectives from the Thousand Oaks Police Department's Investigations Unit on Tuesday arrested a man they believe was responsible for a called-in bomb threat last month.

Brandon Wimsatt, 23, of Thousand Oaks was arrested on suspicion of falsely reporting a bomb to a business the sheriff's department reported in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

On May 28, Burlington Coat Factory, located at 285 N. Moorpark Road at the Janns Marketplace, received a bomb threat by telephone. No bomb or suspicious packages were found during a police search, but the investigation went on to include following up on the phone call.

Detectives learned Wimsatt's telephone was used to call in the threat and that he took steps to hide his phone number from being discovered, the sheriff's statement said.

On Tuesday, Thousand Oaks detectives located the suspect in Thousand Oaks and arrested him. He was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Dentention Facility in Ventura with bail set at $10,000, according to the sheriff's department.
