Moorpark Chamber of Commerce Holds Monthly Mixer

Members attended one of the chamber's many networking events throughout the year, to represent their business and get some exposure.

Close to 30 members of the representing various industries attended a networking event yesterday evening.

Chamber chairman Robert Sichmeller was on hand to welcome both newcomers and regulars. "We usually get more than this," he said, referring to the low numbers due to yesterday's rain showers.

The weather did little to dampen the evening's mood especially when door prizes were about to get raffled off. Gift bags and apparel donated by members were among the door prizes.

Member Andrea Vigil looks forward to chamber events to network and promote her non-profit group, the Court-Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).

"There are many good people and families out there especially in Moorpark who willingly give their time to abused and/or neglected kids," said Vigil, volunteer advocate supervisor of CASA.

Bellmont Village, a chamber member, hosted the monthly mixer. "I think we like the idea of holding it here every month," said Heidi Charette, executive director of the senior living community in Thousand Oaks.

Aside from the monthly mixer, the also holds a monthly networking breakfast and a yearly community awards luncheon honoring local leaders and businesses.
