Hair Salon to have Fundraiser for Earthquake, Tsunami Victims

Stylists at Katsu Hair will give the money they make on Friday to the Red Cross

If you've been thinking it's time to do something about those split ends or maybe are just ready for a new 'do, consider waiting until Friday to get a hair cut. That's when , a Moorpark Avenue salon, will be taking Red Cross donations for haircuts to raise money for the Japan earthquake and tsunami victims.

"My stylists and I were having a meeting about a week ago and during that meeting we got on the subject of Japan," said Katsu, the owner of the salon (who goes by the single name). "Seeing as how I am from Japan and my family still lives there, my stylists thought it would be a great opportunity to show our support."

Katsu went on to mention that his family was not directly affected by the earthquake and tsunami.

The stylists—who generally charge $45 or more for women's hair cuts, according to a price guide on the salon's Web site—are asking for a donation of at least $10 for their services on Friday.

The fundraiser will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and all the money earned will go to the Red Cross. The salon is at 252 W. L.A. Ave. between and
