Moorpark's Only Funeral Home Celebrates New Location

The Perez Family Funeral Home, the only business of its kind in Moorpark, celebrated the opening of its new location Tuesday night with the Chamber of Commerce.

The business hosted the Chamber's monthly networking mixer at its new Patriot Drive storefront. The 1,500-square-foot location is so new that Perez  family members at 3 p.m. were still preparing the location for the 5 p.m. event.

Prior to opening the Patriot Drive location, family members conducted business from an office at their Moorpark home, but all other aspects of the business were taken care of at its Camarillo location. The business also has a location in Ojai.

Robert Perez, the owner of the business, said it took about five years in total to open the full-service funeral home in Moorpark. But, he said, he was able to get help from all over the city to get the business open.

"We've got a great mayor, great council, great everyone. It's all of Moorpark who really made this happen," he said.

Perez said having a Moorpark-based location allows the business to tailor arrangements specifically to families here.

"We conducted a lot of research and found Moorpark families keep things simple but elegant," Perez said.

A local location also allows the Moorpark native—and library board member—to spend more time with his family, and, because the business as a whole is connected via computer, he can be in the know with happenings at any of the locations from any of the locations.
