5 Things to Know Today: April 8

Here are five facts to start your Easter Sunday.

Welcome to "5 Things to Know Today," a daily Patch feature that provides five quick tidbits of information in one spot. In honor of the Easter holiday, today's facts are Easter-centered. Here they are:

  1. According to the National Confectioners Association, 88 percent of adults carry on the Easter tradition of creating Easter baskets for their kids.
  2. The NCA also reports 16 billion (yes, billion!) jelly beans and 90 million chocolate Easter bunnies and are made for Easter each year. In a survey, 76 percent of people reported they eat the ears on chocolate bunnies first.
  3. Peeps took an hour to make when they were first 'hatched" in 1953. Now it takes only six minutes to make a peep. Find out more Peeps trivia by taking a Peeps quiz on the official Peeps website (there are over 200 unofficial Peeps sites, by the way).
  4. And, as always... The National Weather Service is predicting a high near 77 degrees and a low near 46 degrees.
  5. Moorpark's lowest price per gallon for regular gas is $4.25, according to GasBuddy.com. Find it at the Union 76 station at 13800 Princeton Ave.
