5 Things to Know Today: Dec. 2

Let the holiday events commence!

Welcome to "5 Things You Need to Know Today," a daily Patch feature that provides five quick tidbits of information in one spot. Here they are:

  1. The Christmas Magic! production, with holiday stories, carols and kids, opens Friday and runs through Dec. 11 with performances at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays.
  2. Community Action of Ventura County is hosting a Saturday in Westlake at which it will honor the late Marie Panec, a long-time Moorpark College professor. Tickets are $95 and available online.
  3. The Moorpark Rotary Club's race, featuring a 5 and 10k plus a 1-mile family fun walk, takes place Sunday. The race, which raises money to help eradicate polio, begins and ends on Cutler's Oak Run Ranch near Happy Camp County Park. Register and find more details on the Rotary Club's website.
  4. Moorpark's lowest price per gallon for regular gas is down to $3.63, according to GasBuddy.com. Find it at the Alliance station at 50 W. Los Angeles Ave. and the Union 76 station at 13800 Pinceton Ave.
  5. The National Weather Service is predicting sunny weather with a high near 62 and a low near 42.
