Earthquake Hits Virginia

The 5.9 earthquake struck 41 miles from Richmond at 10:51 Pacific time.

A 5.9 magnitude earthquake has hit in Virginia, according to the United States Geological Survey.

The earthquake was centered four miles from Mineral and Louisa, VA and 41 miles from Richmond. It was centered about six-tenths of a mile deep and struck at 10:51 Pacific time, the site said.

Facebook and Twitter chatter are showing people felt the quake in New York, Pittsburgh and parts of Ohio and Kentucky.
