The National Weather Service on Wednesday evening issued a frost advisory for portions of the Southland, including Moorpark.
A cold air mass with diminishing winds and drier conditions will allow for widespread sub-freezing temperatures Wednesday night, according to the weather service, which predicted a low of 30 degrees for the night in Woodland Hills.
Frost advisories are in effect in wind-sheltered locations, including this area, and such temperatures will pose a threat to plant and crop life as well as animals who are kept outdoors, the service warns.
The frost advisory remains in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Thursday.
The weather service predicts a high of 64 degrees with a low of 32 degrees on Thursday and a high of 63 and low of 42 degrees on Friday. There is a slight chance of rain predicted for Saturday.
