National Weather Service predicts rain and possible thunderstorms until 4 p.m.

The National Weather Service has predicted a 90 percent chance of rain through 4 p.m. Monday, lowering to a 20 percent chance by the evening.

The service said the winter storm will bring the area heavy rain and possible thunder storms. Preliminary estimates for this system are for about one to one-and-a-half inches to fall over the coast and valley and one to three inches in the foothills and mountains. Areas above 6,000 feet could see heavy snow.
