Scene in Moorpark: Big Breeze Topples Trees

Wednesday night's strong winds caused trouble for the city's nurseries.

Strong winds this time of year bring worries of brush fires to Southern California's more rural areas, but they can be destructive in other ways as well. This was the case for some of Moorpark's plant nurseries Wednesday night when strong gusts toppled row after row of trees at businesses on the outskirts of town.

These photos were taken at nurseries along Grimes Canyon Road, but we also saw trees knocked over at nurseries near Hitch Road and close to the Arroyo Simi near Tierra Rejada Road.

The National Weather Service is predicting a reprieve from the winds, which it says will remain between five to ten miles per hour through the weekend; however, the forecast is for likely rain Friday and Saturday.
