The U.S. Geological Survey registered a 4.2 magnitude earthquake about four miles east-southeast of Newhall at 1:47 p.m.
Two tremors followed shortly. One was a 2.0 magnitude quake north of San Fernando at 1:50 p.m. and the other, a 2.3 magnitude quake in the same area, struck at 1:53 p.m.
Newhall is about 21 miles east of Moorpark, near Santa Clarita. So far, Moorpark residents are reporting feeling a slight shaking but no damage.
