The gang at Enegren Brewing Company began St. Patrick's Day celebrations in Moorpark a day early Saturday, but that didn't seem to be a problem for any attendees of the micro brewery's Feast of St. Patrick event.
A steady stream of patrons came in to fill their growlers and sample the EBC's brews—including a special release for the event, Captain Patrick's Irish Stout—and corned beef and cabbage patty melts served up by Moorpark's Custom Melt.
EBC describes the new release as a change from the stronger beers it's been brewing recently, at 4 percent ABV.
"Dark in color with a medium body, the brew has a nice roasted flavor, hints of coffee and chocolate, and a very smooth finish. The hop bitterness is mild yet noticeable and complements the natural roasted malt flavor well," the company's website says.
Speaking of the company's website, we suggest checking out the Enegren blog. The current post is a perhaps-historically-inaccurate-but-definitely-entertaining telling of how Patrick earned his sainthood, but others explain how/why the brewers decided to make one beer or another, and often provides a laugh.
