Start of Spring Offers Short Break From Rain

Showers are predicted from Wednesday through the end of the week.

The sun peeked out through the clouds above Moorpark just a day after a heavy storm knocked down trees, caused roads to be closed and downed power lines across the county. This respite for the first full day of spring may be short lived, however, according to predictions from the National Weather Service.

Though Tuesday should be mostly sunny, the service is predicting a 70 percent chance of rain for Wednesday with decreasing chances through the end of the week.

For those who need them, the City of Moorpark has empty sandbags and a supply of sand available free of charge. There are two locations for supplies: along the access road behind the library just north of High Street and at the end of College View Avenue, off Campus Park Drive. Residents should be prepared to fill the bags themselves, as the City does not provide that service. For questions about the sandbags, call 805-517-6362.
