To V or Not to V

This week, Moorpark Moms Council tackles the V word: vaccinations.

Where once it was almost automatic, more and more parents are choosing not to vaccinate their children. Fears about the vaccinations sometimes are more troubling to parents than fear of the diseases they are meant to prevent.

And with claims like the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine causing autism, who can blame them? Although both the Institute of Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics have found the claim to be unsubstantiated, the claimed correllation between the shot and the developmental disorder is sure to be in the back of moms' and dads' minds.

As a parent, are you worried vaccines and immunizations are worse than the diseases they are meant to prevent? Do you choose to vaccinate your child? What about things as seemingly benign (or are they?) as flu shots?
