Weather Service Issues Frost Alert

Temperatures in the inland valleys of Ventura and Los Angeles counties are expected to plummet overnight.

The National Weather Service is predicting near-freezing weather for Moorpark Thursday night.

According to its online forecast, temperatures will reach as low as 35 degrees overnight. Friday's high will be around 62 degrees and then drop to around 42 Friday night into Saturday morning, when the service is predicting a 60 percent chance of rain.

With colder than normal temperatures expected for early Friday morning, forecasters issued a frost advisory for several areas in Central and Southern California.

The frost advisory will be in effect from 3 to 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures could reach as low as 28 degrees in those areas and forecasters warned that sensitive outdoor plants should be covered.
