Moorpark Basketball Association Player Assessments to Take Place October 28-30

Plans are underway for the 2013-14 season of the Boys & Girls Club's Moorpark Basketball Association (MBA), which is for girls and boys in grades 3-8. The MBA is a developmental youth basketball program that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship and fun. Over the summer an MBA Advisory Board, consisting of parents, coaches and community members, was created in order to build and improve upon the program, and several changes are in the works to provide a fun and great learning experience for Moorpark's youth. 

Registration for the upcoming season is now open, and will take place through October 27; the cost is $150.00 per player.  In addition, player assessments are required of all players. In order to achieve better team balance across all the divisions, the MBA Advisory Board will provide input on player drafts. The player assessments will take place at the Boys & Girls Club, and the schedule is as follows: 

Girls: October 28 at 5:30 p.m.
3rd/4th Grade Boys: October 28 at 6:30 p.m.
5th/6th Grade Boys: October 29 at 6:00 p.m.
7th/8th Grade Boys: October 30 at 6:00 p.m.

The season will run from November 2013 through February 2014, and the cost is $150.00 per player. All coaches, parents and players will sign a code of conduct to promote good sportsmanship and equal opportunities for all players. Additionally, there will be licensed referees to officiate games for 6th, 7th and 8th grade teams, and trained high school and college basketball players will officiate at the younger levels.

Volunteer coaches are a vital part of the MBA, and all coaches will receive training and support.
