Moorpark's 5 Things to Know Today: Aug. 19

Here's what's happening in and around Moorpark at-a-glance.

  1. In Simi Valley, the Town Center along with the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District is screening Rear Window for its last Classic Movie Sunday of the summer. The free event begins at 6 p.m. at the Simi Valley Town Center, 1555 Simi Town Center Way.
  2. The Agoura Hills Town Center will host a free Summerfest with entertainment, a fashion show, painting, kids crafts, raffles, pet adoptions and more from noon to 4 p.m. The event, which benefits Casa Pacifica, is at 30135 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills.
  3. Sunday completes black cat appreciation days at the Camarillo Animal Shelter. The shelter has a number of black cats for adoption and if you adopt one during the event, you can adopt it for $60, which includes spay or neutering, shots, a microchip and a special catnip treat.The shelter is at 600 Aviation Drive, Camarillo.
  4. The lowest cost of gas in Moorpark, according to GasBuddy.com, is holding at $4.07 per gallon. Find it at the 76 station at 13800 Princeton Ave.
  5. Today's high will be about 86 degrees with a low around 61, according to the National Weather Service.
