Stranger Pays It Forward to Teen with Brain Cancer

A stranger donates $500 which she herself just received to help a local teen battling brain cancer.

Austin Muñoz, a Moorpark teen battling brain cancer and his mom were recently surprised by a stranger’s random act of kindness.

The stranger, Susan Shields had received $500 from her boss and friend, Shawn Nelson.

Nelson told ABC7, “She is the only person who never takes a paycheck. Ever. She always tells us to donate it to a different charity every single month.”

“I felt like giving it away. I don’t think I should have it,” said Shields of her decision to .

She could not get Muñoz out of her mind. The football player has been battling the disease for a year now.

After a successful round of chemo, the tumor had begun growing again and the teen needs another surgery, according to the ABC7 report.

His single mom, Julie Miller, had to take time off from work to care for Muñoz.

Shields feels good about her gesture. She said, "You don't do it expecting anything in return but it makes you feel good. You give what you get."
