Sprinkles Won't Squelch Skirmishes

The Civil War re-enactment will go on, despite rain.

Members of Moorpark's Rotary Club spent Friday preparing for this weekend's annual , despite sprinkles and predictions for rain Friday night. Come rain or shine, the organizers said, the event will go on.

Dale Parvin of the Rotary Club said members had considered delaying the event when they first saw the weekend forecast, but decided against it.

With re-enacters and visitors planning to come great distances to attend, changing the date could create logistics nightmares.

Besides, as Parvin pointed out at the club's Friday meeting, rain is predicted for the scheduled backup date as well.

Though it rained some overnight, as of late Friday night, the National Weather Service was predicting only a 50 percent chance of rain Saturday, declining to a 20 percent Saturday evening. Sunday's prediction is for a partly sunny day.
