Solicited by the Moorpark Acorn Submitted to the Patch

Fiction in a Nutshell,

I just read in the Acorn on 8/24/12 the High Noon Deadline for a fiction contest. The Acorn is out of luck, so I am sharing my thoughts on writing a quick little thought to the Patch instead.

Having a personal friend, HG—last name Wells, I know perfectly well that going back in time is possible. So, even though the clock says 4:03 where I am, somewhere in time it is before noon. That is a good thing, so I can submit this little ditty in time before the cutoff that was required by the Acorn.

Here in Moorpark we are fortunate to have the small town feel, that is if you walk down High Street. Of course you do get the big town feel if you choose to go to Target or many of the other stores that lack the charm and feel of High street but are necessary in a growing community.

With Moorpark College reopening and the traffic that, as a result clogs the streets with students driving there and back, even in that environment the hustle and bustle of the traffic is tempered by the large open spaces of Moorpark College.

Here in Moorpark we are fortunate. We have it all: good people, balanced neighborhoods, people surviving in their corner of the world and doing the best they can with their own issues, and opportunities to succeed in a tough world and doing it all with the ability to take a deep breath and enjoy the simple things.
