With summer coming to a quick end, Peach Hill mom Kim Johnson had an idea for some last-hurrah summer fun for the kids in her neighborhood: a back-to-school party at the park.
She said her husband thought it would be a lot of work, but she kept the afternoon event simple by making it a bring-your-own party, emailing invitations to friends and putting out the call on Facebook for what she hopes will become an annual event.
Families brought their own coolers filled with snacks and some even had pizza delivered to the park. Moms and dads had a chance to catch up and, on the last day of summer, the kids did what they do best: They ran and laughed and played.
