Music, theater and even war are on the calendar this week.

Looking for something to do this weekend? Here are a few events taking place in and near Moorpark.

SATURDAY

Civil War Encampment: If you missed Moorpark’s Civil War re-enactment this year—or if you’re just a history buff—check out this two-day event that allows visitors to experience the sights and sounds of the Civil War as re-enactors demonstrate how soldiers lived. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at Strathearn Historical Park and Museum, 137 Strathearn Place, Simi Valley. Local artists, organizations, and businesses will set up booths to promote themselves while showing their support for the music. The event, which is open to all ages, rakes place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Plaza Park, located on Thompson Boulevard between Chestnut and Fir streets.

Miss Ventura County Pageant: See the next Miss Ventura County and Ventura County’s Outstanding Teen get crowned. The pageant begins at 6 p.m. at the High Street Arts Center, 45 E. High St. Tickets are $20 at the door.

SUNDAY

Little Women: The Musical Theatre Guild presents a musical version of Louisa May Alcott’s story of the March family as they grow up in Civil War America (are we sensing a theme this weekend?). The performance takes place at 3 p.m. at the Civic Artz Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. Tickets are $40.

MONDAY

Presidents Day Celebration: Yes, we’re stretching the weekend to include Monday, but if the federal government can do it, we figure we can too! This celebration includes fun for the whole family, including musical entertainment, storytelling, and presidential and first lady look a-likes. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley. Presidents Day activities are free, but museum admission applies to visit the Ronald Reagan Presidential Museum and Air Force One Pavilion. Hot dogs, pie and other all-American food will be available for purchase.
