The Green Designation for Realtors

The Green Designation

There is a great focus today on the idea of living green and green building with newer construction, etc.  Luckily, there is a Green Designation offered through the National Assoc. of Realtors.  This designation will help the realtor with ongoing education, and helping them find the resources & tools to get the answers the realtors and clients may have, and educates the realtor about the concerns of consumers seeking green knowledge about real estate.  In order to get this designation the realtor will need to complete a two-day core course as well as a one-day elective course in order to obtain the designation.

As well, realtors will also become a member of the Green Resource Council.  This program provides cutting-edge resources and tools and helps promote green excellence, leadership, and consumer awareness across multiple real estate disciplines.  Those who complete the appropriate courses are then awarded the NAR Green Designation, and become a member of the Green Resource Council.

You can find a realtor with this designation by going to http://www.greenresourcecouncil.org/find_an_nar_green_designee.cfm, you might consider locating a realtor with this designation if you either have a Green home to sell, are looking for a Green home or have green features in your home that you would like marketed by a Green realtor.  As well, if they’ve been specializing in this particular market for a while they may have some good contacts to market your property specifically to, once your property is on the market with them.
