The SRES Designation for Realtors and What It Means

The SRES Designation for Realtors

Bet you did not know the National Association of Realtors (NAR) provides a course for realtors to be a resource to help seniors navigate through the real estate process.   As stated on NAR’s website, “The SRES designation course seeks to instill knowledge and understanding of an empathy for age 50+ real estate clients and customers.”

Just some of the objectives of this course, as listed by NAR, are:

- Learn the application of federal laws for Housing for Older Persons Act (HOPA).

- Learn about the uses, benefits, procedures and issues involved in reverse mortgages.

- Recognize mortgage finance and loan schemes and scams that victimize 50+ borrowers.

- Help clients integrate disposition of real property into estate plans.

In order to receive this designation, successful completion of the two-day SRES designation course, including an 80% passing grade on the exam, is required along with active membership with NAR (Nat’l. Assoc. of Realtors).

If you are interested in finding a realtor with this particular designation, you can go to the following link: www.seniorsrealestate.com/find_an_sres.cfm, or you can contact a trusted real estate agent and they would be happy to help you find a realtor with this designation to help you with your needs.

By the way, how is it age 50 is considered a senior? Not sure about you, but as someone inching ever closer to this age, I respectfully disagree.
