An allegedly speeding motorcyclist who reportedly led the CHP on a chase Saturday was shot and killed by an officer following a crash, a Ventura County sheriff's sergeant said.
The shooting occurred about 2:20 p.m. on Padre Juan Canyon Road, according to sheriff's Sgt. Cary Peterson.
Officers tried to stop the rider on the southbound Pacific Coast Highway, north of Faria Beach, but the motorcyclist refused to yield, the sergeant said.
The chase led officers to Padre Juan, where the bike left the road and crashed.
The shooting occurred after that, but it was unclear what exactly led to the shooting, the sergeant.
No officers were injured and sheriff's homicide investigators were probing the event.
