Fireworks Company Issues Statement, 'Deeply Regrets' Simi Valley Injuries

Four people are considered in serious condition, police say.

The New York company hired for the Simi Valley fireworks display where 28 people were injured in a malfunction Thursday said it "deeply regrets" the incident, according to the Inland Empire Daily Bulletin.

"Bay Fireworks will conduct a thorough and complete investigation of this incident and make our findings available to the public," company CEO Dennis Brady Jr. said in a statement, according to the story. "Our major concern and focus is for the injured spectators and their families."

Moorpark residents and others living miles away from Rancho Santa Susana Community Park, where the fireworks show took place, reported feeling the explosion, which is believed to have occurred when a number of fireworks detonated on ground level instead of being launched into the air.

Of the 28 injured, four people were considered in serious condition, according to Commander Stephanie Shannon of the Simi Valley Police Department.
