Deputies stationed at the Camarillo Police Department arrested five juveniles and one adult Sunday on suspicion of stealing items from vehicles.
Responding to a report of males looking into parked vehicles with flashlights at about 3:35 a.m., deputies saw four people fleeing the area on bicycles and skateboards, according to a statement issued by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.
Police searched the area and found and arrested four of the minors and one adult for being in possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit a crime and theft from vehicles, the statement said. The final suspect turned himself in at the Camarillo Police Station later. One juvenile is 14, and the others are 16. The adult is 18.
The Sheriff's statement went on to say the suspects admitted to a four-day spree wherein they committed more than 40 thefts from unlocked vehicles in which they could see items in plain sight.
Several victims have been identified and their property has been identified and returned to them.
