Lockdown Lifted After Shooting Threat at Moorpark High School
There was no active threat found at the school and no injuries were reported.
Moorpark High School went on lockdown Thursday morning when a shooting threat was called in, authorities said.
The lockdown was lifted at 10:30 a.m., but the school will remain closed for the remainder of the day, according to a Moorpark Unified School District statement.
No injuries were reported and authorities said there wasn't an active threat at the high school. All students were safely evacuated from the campus before 11:45 a.m.
According to a KTLA report, Capt. Don Aguilar said a 911 call was made from the school to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department at 8:20 a.m. regarding a threatening note left by a student.
According to a Los Angeles Times report, a campus sweep was conducted and no explosives were found. About 70 deputies, a K-9 unit and a bomb squad were at the scene.
The Times also reported that the threatening note was found on campus by a student who called authorities immediately.
"There were temporary lockdowns of Arroyo West and Mountain Meadow Elementary schools as a precaution. Those lockdowns have been lifted and both schools have resumed normal operations," according to the Sheriff's Department.
