Man Climbs Through Roof to Rob T.O. Business

An undisclosed amount of money was taken from a check cashing business.

The clerk of a Thousand Oaks check cashing business was surprised Thursday by an intruder who forced his way through the roof before demanding money and fleeing.

The suspect dropped into a secured area of the business while the clerk at Conejo Check Cashing, located on the 2400 block of Hillcrest Drive in the Newbury Park section of Thousand Oaks, was helping customers, according to a statement issued by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

The alleged robbery took place at about 9 a.m. and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money, the statement said.

The clerk escaped during the course of the robbery and was not seriously injured.

Thousand Oaks Police Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crime to contact Det. Todd Welty at 805-494-8224.
