Moorpark Police Arrest Man for Allegedly Stabbing Two People

Police arrest Steven Chavez for assault with a deadly weapon.

The City of Moorpark Police Department released a press release identifying the man suspected of stabbing two people on Dec. 31.

"At approximately 11:30 pm, Steven Chavez, Cameron Pucik, and a seventeen year old female juvenile were congregating on an embankment located south of Moorpark Avenue in the city of Moorpark. At some point, a disagreement between Chavez and Pucik developed into a physical altercation. Chavez produced a knife during the incident and stabbed Pucik in the neck and abdomen. Chavez also stabbed the juvenile’s hand during the struggle. Pucik and the juvenile were transported via ambulance to Los Robles Hospital. The injuries sustained by the victims are not considered life threatening," according to the police department.

Moorpark patrol deputies and detectives arrested Chavez for assault with a deadly weapon and booked him at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility on $25,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Ventura County Superior Court on Friday.
