Moorpark Police Make Drug Arrest

Police say the arrestee was selling prescription medication.

Police arrested a 19-year-old Moorpark man Friday who they suspect of selling narcotics.

The arrest of Miles James Coughlin, which took place at a shopping center at Tierra Rejada and Spring roads, was the result of a month-long investigation, according to a statement issued by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department Tuesday evening.

Moorpark Police Special Enforcement Detail and detectives with the East County Narcotics Team found evidence located in Coughlin's possession indicating he was illegally selling the medication, according to the statement, which went on to say this was his second arrest for possession of drugs for sale within the last few months.

At the time of Coughlin's arrest, a minor child was in his vehicle, and "because of the potential dangerous situation involved in illegal drug dealing, Coughlin was also arrested for child endangerment," the statement said.

Law enforcement officials determined the minor was not involved in the narcotics sales and was released to a guardian.
