Moorpark Teen Hit by Amtrak Train

A 15-year-old Moorpark boy was struck east of Spring Road by a Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo Amtrak train moving at 70 mph.

A 15-year-old Moorpark boy was struck by a Los Angeles to San Luis Obispo Amtrak train moving at 70 mph Wednesday. He was rushed to Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, according to the Moorpark Police Department.

The teen was walking westbound along the tracks about 2,000 feet east of Spring Road when he was hit, police said.  His condition was not immediately announced.

There were 292 passengers and a crew of 20 were on board the train.  The railroad tracks were shut down in both directions for about 1½ hours following the 12:35 p.m. accident. There were no other injuries, police said.
