Pedestrian Killed in Moorpark Traffic Accident

A 90-year-old woman died after being hit by a car in Moorpark Monday morning, according to a statement issued by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department.

Choko Takegami Jauss had been walking in the residential neighborhood near North Rand and Duke streets when a vehicle hit her, according to reports.

Moorpark deputies received a call about the accident at 7:15 a.m.

Jauss was transported to Los Robles Hospital for treatment, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead, the Sheriff's statement said.

The collision is still under investigation; however, the Sheriff's Department did say that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision and there have been no arrests made.
