Police Arrest Two on Suspicion of Forgery, Theft

The men are suspected of passing counterfeit travelers checks.

Moorpark detectives arrested two Los Angeles men on suspiscion of forgery and commercial burglary Thursday, according to a statement released by the Ventura County Sheriff's Department Friday night.

Detectives believe Jullius D. Williams, 33, and Kenneth R. Blanton, 35, are part of a group that used counterfeit American Express travelers checks at a number of TJ Maxx stores throughout Southern California, including the store in Moorpark, the statement said.

The detectives began their investigation when loss prevention agents from the store contacted them after realizing people were using fake $100 checks to pay for items valued at around $10 and pocket the change, according to the statement, which went on to say the estimated total loss is several thousand dollars.
