Sheriff's Department Arrests Residential, Car Theft Suspects

The suspects have been booked into the county main jail in lieu of bail.

The Ventura County Sheriff's Department has announced the arrest of three people dectives believe are responsible for a series of thefts on the 1200 block of James Weak Avenue in Moorpark.

According to a report issued by the department, a large amount of property was stolen from a residence and, two days later, a vehicle was taken from the same place.

Several days later, the report said, deputies spotted the vehicle parked on a residential street in the city and, based on evidence found in the car, detectives were able to identify two suspects associated with it.

On Saturday, Moorpark deputies recognized the people in a vehicle they had pulled over for a routine traffic stop as those associated with the vehicle taken from James Weak Avenue, according to the report. It went on to say detectives found additional evidence linking the people to the vehicle as well as the first burglary from the residence, plus two Simi Valley residential burglaries and based on evidence the dectectives found, they arrested a third suspect they suspect assisted in the crimes.

During the investigation, detectives recovered property from the three residences estimated to be worth more than $10,000 as well as narcotics and drug paraphernalia, counterfeit bills and equipment used for their creation, the statement said.

The three suspects—Lonney Hansen, 48, Mishel Pinzon, 23, and Fernando Medina, all of Simi Valley—were booked into the Ventura County main jail in lieu of bail. Hansen was booked in lieu of $60,000 bail; Pinzon was booked in lieu of $50,000 bail and Medina was booked in lieu of $105,000 bail, according to the statement.
