Sheriff's Department Makes Arrest in Veterinary Burglary

Drugs, medical equipment and office supplies had been taken from Town Veterinary Medical Center.

Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a 34-year-old Moorpark man for a Saturday burglary of Town Veterinary Medical Center.

When deputies from the Moorpark City Station responded to the report of missing drugs, medical equipment and office supplies, they discovered that video surveillance footage caught both the crime being committed and the vehicle that was used to remove the stolen property, according to a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Department.

An investigation led detectives to the vehicle—which had several of the stolen items, including narcotics and medical equipment, inside—and the eventual arrest of Michael Lopez, the statement said. Lopez was arrested for burglary as well as being under the influence of a controlled substance, according to the statement. He was booked into the Ventura County pre-trial detention facility in lieu of $10,000 bail.
