Sheriff's Department Makes Second Arrest in Moorpark Warehouse Robbery

Detectives track merchandise via eBay.

Sheriff’s detectives serving at the Moorpark Police Department have made two arrests and recovered items stolen from a Moorpark business in May.

A number of high-end marine GPS units were taken from a warehouse on May 23, according to a statement issued by the Sheriff’s Department.

When detectives working on the case discovered some of the units were being offered for sale on eBay by a man living in Sherman Oaks, they served a search warrant and recovered about $8,000 in stolen GPS units and arrested the man, the statement said.

In early July, detectives again found someone selling GPS units on eBay and again traced the seller—his time in the city of Carson—and on Friday served a search warrant, found about $4,000 worth of GPS units and arrested a second man for possession of stolen property, according to the statement.

The investigation continues and detectives are following up on leads to secure the remaining units. Anyone with leads on this or other crimes can report them anonymously to Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
