A suspect or suspects purposely released several horses from their stables at a  home outside Moorpark and the animals became injured while running in a common area.

The horses were freed from their individual stables Wednesday evening in the 4200 block of Hitch Boulevard, in an unincorporated area near Moorpark, according to Ventura County sheriffs Detective Kevin Lynch.

Deputies determined that a trespasser or trespassers released the horses but it was unclear whether the persons responsible had intended to hurt the animals.
