Suspicious Letter Delivered to Moorpark Unified Found Not Harmful

A hazardous materials team on the scene analyzed powder found in the letter and determined it was not harmful.

Ventura County authorities investigated a suspicious letter delivered to the Moorpark Unified School District offices on Friday and determined it was not harmful.

Sheriff's investigators and the Ventura County Fire Department evacuated a building in the 5200 block of Maureen Lane after the letter with white powder was discovered. 

A hazarous materials team on the scene analyzed the powder found in the letter. The results were negative for dangerous substances such as Ricin or Anthrax, and the powder was determined not to be harmful.

Sheriff's East County Major Crimes is continuing the investigation.
