Truck Accident Causes Traffic Delay

A semi truck hauling produce got stuck on train tracks on Highway 118 Tuesday morning.

Those traveling west of the city via Highway 118 were delayed Tuesday morning due to a truck accident, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 4:15 a.m., the driver of a freightliner pulling a semi trailer loaded with produce failed to make the curve at the highway railroad crossing just west of Grimes Canyon Road while he drove eastward, toward Moorpark. The truck came to rest directly on the tracks, according to Officer Miguel Duarte, CHP public information officer.

No injuries were reported; however, the westbound lane was closed until about 10:50 a.m. The eastbound lane had been used to alternate traffic until that point, according to Duarte.
